Rushcreek Desert

Rushcreek Desert is a 10 year old we acquired a little over a year ago–he may have had some work early on, but got put on the shelf and really has not had much work prior to coming to us. We have him re-started and are working on getting him softer than what he shows in the videos, but he is coming along nicely! I will try to post some video of him without saddle so that you may see his movement. He has a very nice personality and seems like an easy-going kind of guy, but also very willing! He was bred and born on the Rushcreek ranch prior to dispersal.

When I posted his information to the Rushcreek page on Facebook, I have since found out some more information about Desert and what potential he has! Laura Hayes brought to my attention that Desert was an orphan, and the last foal out of RC Aztec. She tells us that Aztec was the dam of one time herd sire, RC Kip (I’ve heard lots of good things about him, but I digress). Aztec also foaled RC Laramie, who qualified for the WEG in Kentucky.

Mark Scheberies is our resident Rushcreek lineage expert and overall very knowledgeable man from California; he brought home part of the Rushcreek herd from dispersal. He has this to say about Desert: “IMHO his dam, Aztec, was one of the best bred mares on the ranch. His dam’s sire was Sahr Magnafy who brought quality polish racing lines to Rushcreek, Aztec was out of Rushcreek Dart by Al Marah Knight and out of Pocahantas. Al Marah Knight sired Boyd Zontelli’s Hans and Eaton and is an AERC Hall of Fame Horse). Pocahantas is a full sibling to Rushcreek Spirea, who was the dam of Hans and Eaton.”
